Background
If a normally-open fire door fails to close in a fire, the smoke control zone fails and smoke spreads rapidly along the escape route — one of the main causes of casualties in high-rise fires. Codes require that normally-open doors close automatically on fire alarm.
How it works
Rynon fire door monitoring consists of a fire door monitor, zone repeaters, linkage modules, intelligent door status switches and door holders/releasers. On receiving the linkage signal from the fire alarm control panel, the monitor commands the releaser on each normally-open door to let go; the door closer shuts the leaf; and the door status switch reports the closed state back in real time.
Key capabilities
- Automatic closing of normally-open doors on fire alarm, with real-time closure feedback
- Local audible and visual alarm, plus reporting, if a door is held open beyond the permitted time
- Polarity-free two-wire bus, communication distance up to 1500 m
- Zone repeaters cascade to expand the number of doors per monitor
